Create a Superhero

Recently Hollywood and the comics have taken established superheroes and done reboots changing who they were originally in some way. Batman started out as a kind of an average do gooder. Now he is the ‘Dark Knight’, a sinister rendition of his rated g self. Ironman is becoming a female. Back in 2015 Michelle Rodriguez made a comment about rumors of her being the next Green Lantern: “That's the dumbest thing I ever heard, I think it's so stupid because of this whole minorities in Hollywood thing. It's so stupid. Stop stealing all the white people's superheroes. Make up your own. What's up with that?” She was bashed for this but she did have a point, why just change who the character is but why not make a new one.

Cartoons have come up with some pretty cool ones. Atom Ant, Inspector Gadget, Underdog, Gargoyles, He-Man and one could even make the argument that Secret Squirrel (with the right gadgets) is a superhero. Even Spongebob Squarepants has Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy. A few years back a member of the Virtual Cinema/Machinima community, BiggsTrek, came up with UPM (Underpants Man). Pretty unique.

So, like UPM, instead of taking a current superhero and redefining them, let’s create some completely new ones. What if 2 superheroes of different abilities or even species were able to mate? What would their offspring become?

The task at hand:

Create a NEW Superhero. Introduce this hero to us in a 3- 7 minute video clip.

Give it a unique name (Names like Batman, Superman, Ironman, etc. would not work here)

Tell us the powers he/she/it has and briefly how they got them. Tell us briefly who the main archenemy/villain is.

Even though the person/creature/entity must be here on Earth there is no era constraint. Maybe this is the 1800's or the year 3000 or even 1000 bc. It does not have to be present day. Doesn't even have to be in a city. Forest? Underwater? Underground? Keep in mind though what someone from a different era/location might consider as a superhero.

You can use any medium you want (iClone, Moviestorm, Muvizu, Blender, graphic comic, comic book style, Live Action filming, etc.) but the character should not be worse than a PG rating. R rating maybe as long as it is not sexual/raunchy.

Judging Criteria:

Creativity (Have we seen something similar or is it new. Also, who is the main archenemy/villain?)

Presentation (How the hero is presented? After all, Superman would be quite a different character if raised in 1800s Poland but his powers and so forth would be mostly unchanged. What makes Superheros stand out is the where and the how, not necessarily the who. Deadpool is a great example of this - he's not all that different to Wolverine when it comes to powers, but the way he acquired them and chooses to use them is what makes him different )

Plausability (Does the Superhero fit in whatever world is presented to us, it might be silly to us to have an alchemist throwing potions considered a hero in modern day New York, but if it's medieval England - it fits better. An example of a poor superhero would be a Robin Hood type character using wooden arrows in the 21st century)

Technical Aspects (How well the video is put together. Editing, voices used, sound levels, etc. although this will be a very minor aspect.)
